Screen printing and embossing, gravure printing, plate printing

1Mainstream printing mode
Modern technology is developing rapidly, and all industries are connected to each other, and so is screen printing.
Before the advantages of screen printing in design and printing are clarified, it is necessary to understand the relation and difference between screen printing and other printing methods.First, a brief introduction to the main printing methods:
1.1 Relief printing
Letterpress, or letterpress for short, is one of the four main printing processes in modern times. It is printed using a raised plate with a graphic part. During printing, the ink is partially covered with the graphic part. The paper is then covered and the ink is transferred from the plate to the paper by applying pressure.Letterpress printing is one of the oldest printing methods and one of the oldest, evolving over time. The most primitive embossing method originated in the Tang Dynasty of China, when woodbine printing technology was invented. The characters or images were engraved on the board to make the pictures and texts protrude, and then the ink was applied to cover the paper and embossed for printing. In modern times, flexo letterpress printing is widely used in newspapers, books, packaging, carton printing, paper paper printing, plastic printing, napkin printing and so on.Letterpress printing ink layer thickness with full, make the product printing effect level of rich, colourful, it marked the colour of the printing effect is plate offset printing can achieve, in the final is letterpress printing effect can not only achieve high definition printing, and can achieve offset printing office do color soft, can even do gravure ink layer thick the characteristics of high gloss, to say the embossed with many method has the advantage of printing.
1.2Intaglio printing
Gravure printing, abbreviated as “gravure printing”, is a platemaking technology that makes the picture and text part concave down from the surface of a plate.Principle is to make the printing plate in the graphic below blank parts, gravure in pits in the ink embossed directly onto substrates, print the picture by shading level is determined by the size and depth of the pit, if deep pits, can fill the ink is more, after stamping substrates on ink layer is thick, on the contrary if the shallow pits, it can fill ink quantity is less, after stamping on substrates of ink layer is thinner. In printing, the ink is filled into the pit, the ink on the surface of the plate is scraped off with a scraper, and there is a constant pressure contact between the plate and the substrate, so that only the ink remaining in the concave part is transferred to the substrate. The printed product has the characteristic of exquisite and thick. The structure of the layout is similar to that of tuoshi in ancient China, but the inking part is just the opposite of Tuoshi, easy to distinguish and difficult to imitate. The printing quality is high, the ink layer is thick, the color is bright, the picture is clearly hierarchical, so it is mostly used for printing banknotes, stamps and other securities.Intaglio printing plate usually USES copper plate or zinc plate as the engraving plate surface, the concave part can be used for etching, engraving, needle engraving and photogravure.Intaglio printing plate making technology is too complex, long cycle plate making cost is high.Modern mainly USES the rotary press printing.
1.3Plate offset printing
Lithography is also known as chemical printing, which means that the plate is on the same plane as the picture and text to be printed, and does not have a concave and convex texture. To the modern development is mainly offset printing, it is based on the principle of “oil and water mutually exclusive” to achieve printing.Offset printing does not mean printing on the rubber surface, but refers to a rubber roll between the plate and the substrate, for the transfer of graphic patterns. In the process of printing, the principle of oil and water repulsion is used to make the picture and text resistant to oil hydrophilic and ink discharge, and the ink is transferred to the surface of the printing by certain pressure.Printing plate PS version and CTP version, mainly used in offset paper, coated paper, wrapping paper graphic printing, now you can see most of the high-grade advertising books and periodicals are basically realized by offset printing, is the mainstream of today’s printing.
